This Little Light Of Mine

"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine." I have always loved that song ever since I was a little boy. I was listening to it again today as my wife and I were babysitting our friend's two little girls.

I could even see the light shining from the eyes of the eight month old baby and her three year old sister as they giggled, played, and smiled at me.

It was such a beautiful light so full of joy, bliss, happiness, and delight. It was such a glorious light so full of miracles, magic, goodness, and love. It was a light that reached right down into my soul and reminded me once again what we are here on Earth for: to love, care for, help, and rejoice in each other.

I don't know why so many people refuse to shine their light. I don't know why so many other people even try to dim and cover the shining lights of those around them.

All that I do know is that each of us has a light within us. We have it from the day we are born until the day we die. We carry it within our souls all through this life and on into the next. It is the light of love and it is given to us by a God who loves us more than we will ever know.

We can let it flicker and go out or we can nurture it, feed it, and let it shine its glorious light to the whole world. Take your little light then and let it shine. Let it shine from your eyes and light up your smile. Let it glow through your countless loving acts of caring, goodness, and compassion. Let it burn from your heart and ignite the heart lights of all those you meet. Let it be a beacon of joyous delight from your soul to the entire world.

God gave you a wondrous, beautiful light called love. Don't let it grow dim. Choose it, share it, spread it, give it, and let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
