Storms.

Most of us have experienced a storm within our environment from time to time. We have also experienced storms within our lives from time to time. The effect of a storm is similar regardless of whether the storm is within our environment, or within our life. However, we will often find dealing the aftermath of a storm within our environment, far easier than dealing with the aftermath of a storm within our lives. Sometimes, the storms that we experience are minor and pass almost unnoticed, but other times the storms that we experience are severe or even devastating.

The next time that we experience a severe storm with in our environment, we should take the time to look at the damage caused by the storm. We should take the time to watch the people clearing away the debris left in the storm's wake. We need to see that much of the debris is little more than dead branches, and old useless junk which should have been discarded years ago. We need to watch as some of what has been damaged is repaired in time. We need to see how what cannot be repaired is either removed, or replaced with something new.

We need to see that aspects of our environment are removed totally by the storm, and carried away, never to be seen again.

We need to see that in time, all traces of the storm are removed, and that the storm becomes a memory to be forgotten with the passage of time.

We need to see that after the storm has subsided everything returns to be as everything was. However, everything is also a little different after the storm. Some things that were present prior to the storm are gone, and new things that were not present prior to the storm are now present.

There will be some people who never clear the debris, and some people who never repair, remove or replace what has been damaged. Instead, some people spend their life bemoaning the storm and the damage that has been done by the storm, without even considering that they need to clear the debris, repair the damage, and start anew.

Sometimes, we experience a storm in our lives, rather than in our environment, and whilst the storm rages, we are pushed and pulled in many different directions. When the storm finally abates, our life is surrounded with debris which needs to be cleared away before we can see the extent of the damage.

After the debris which is mostly dead wood and old useless emotions and aspects of ourselves which should have been discarded years ago, is cleared away, we can assess the damage, and repair whatever parts of us and our life require repair.

We then need to remove or replace the aspects of ourself and our life that cannot be repaired. We may even notice that aspects of ourselves or our lives have been carried away by the storm.

When we complete the process or repairing, removing, and rebuilding we will be whole again. With the passage of time, the storm in our life will become a distant memory. However, we will also be a little different, and we will always know that we endured a storm and rebuilt ourself after the storm had passed.

There may well be other storms within our life, but we will know from our experience that we can survive any future storm within our life. We will know from our experience that we can rebuild ourselves and our life after the storm has abated.

Alternatively, we could spend our life looking at the debris and damage to ourselves and our life. We could choose to live a 'woe is me' existence. However, we are not, we never have been, and we never will be 'woe', unless we choose to be 'woe', so why would we choose to live a ‘woe is me’ existence?

We need to remain positive and we need to see what can be. We must not stand around looking at the storm damage and wishing that the storm did not happen. The storm happened, and all that we can do, is clear up the mess and get on with our life.

The storm is in the past, and we must not carry our past storms with us into the future. If we do carry our past storms with us, we will be like a cartoon character who walks along the sidewalk with a dark storm cloud over our head, while the rest of the world enjoys the sunshine.
